Summary: Mapping the socio-religious arena dominated by heated theological debate and a mosaic of cultural identities in the crucial hundred years before the Council of Nicaea (325), the article provides a kaleidoscopic view of the interaction and tension interwoven with the story of those Alexandrian Christian believers who stuck with the plain sense of Scripture and those who dared challenge these beliefs by proposing a more figural interpretation.
